Final Project

For the final project I decided to draw another character in detail because I enjoyed making my first character. I chose to make a bunny and since I like to dance so much I made a couple dance moves for him also. The main one is a “spin move”, and he also does an arabesque (ballet). The environment would be a ballet studio, showing the floor and the bar.

I would like to have objects that are moving back and forth leading to the top of the bar. I am not sure what I would like to use for the objects yet, but at the top of the bar there will be a goal to reach, probably a trophy. The character will jump from object to object eventually reaching the top; along the way you will be picking up the letters D, A, N, C & E to spell out dance.

Wafaa Bilal

I am kind of torn on the issue of Wafaa Bilal's exhibition closing; since there is so much opposition to it being closed, I am assuming that he didn't mean to hint at terrorism in any way, but I guess I just don't understand the concept of the work. It is called "The Night of Bush Capturing", and even though many are opposed to the way that Bush is running the country (including myself), I still don't see how its okay to make a game about capturing our president. However, his other piece of art that I heard about sounded very creative and intriguing, where he allowed thousands to shoot at him with a paintbull gun for a significant amount of days, weeks, or whichever it was. The way he described it was that he put himself in a similar situation to those in Iraq or at war, and he must have learned a lot from that experience.

Project 2: Side Scrolling Platform Game

For the Side Scrolling game, I wanted to use my original dinosaur character that I created. Since we made gestures in Exercise 2, that was all set and I had a working movie clip of all the Dino's actions. The next step was the concept, which my friend helped me come up with. I decided to make a game where my main character was the "good guy" and he was collecting all the baby dinosaur eggs that the T-Rex had stolen. The T-Rex is the main enemy in the game, and there is also a "bad egg" that is not colorful like the others, you will "die" if you touch either of them. However, you can defend yourself against the T-Rex by jumping on top of him. You must collect all of the eggs to advance to the next level and beat the game, where you save one of the babies.

Project 1: The Joys of Syracuse

For Project 1, I decided to make a game showcasing some of the worst aspects of attending Syracuse University. Everybody knows tuition is ridiculous, the weather is bi-polar and our football team sucks. Those were the main things I decided to use. I also have myself throwing money at them, these are some pictures from the game itself.

Paintball

For the 'shooter' assignment in Exercise 3 I was trying to figure out what to draw that shoots things besides a regular gun, and paintball came to mind. I tried to make a forest environment and have the paintball gun shoot at people that appeared randomly on the stage. I wanted to have it shoot random colored paintballs, but I wasn't sure how to do that so it just shoots blue right now.
